IT SUPPORT ASSISTANT

‘I joined CEWE’s IT department in 2008 and was excited by the prospect of supporting such a fast-moving, high-tech organisation. Working alongside two other IT Support Assistants, I’m responsible for the deployment and ongoing maintenance of the IT workflow within our busy manufacturing facility. Although no two days are the same, I can often be found performing network updates, configuring servers and upgrading our production systems. The team also provides general PC support to office staff.
We have a much larger IT department in Germany, so I have regular contact with colleagues over there. I also liaise with colleagues in other parts of Europe, including France and Poland. In a role like mine there’s always plenty to learn and the company is really supportive when it comes to my development. I’ve attended various training courses over the years, including a Linux Advanced System Administration course and several courses on storage systems. I’ve also received training on the bespoke systems we have in place and, from time-to-time, I attend CEWE-specific conferences and training sessions abroad.
As I have young children, one of the big advantages of working for a company like CEWE is the flexibility. When my kids are sick or I need to take time off to visit their school, it’s never a problem. I’ve also been allowed to work from home on occasions, which has been really useful.’
